HI, I'm a friend of your sister, Chris, and I've been reading your blogs for years now and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Thank you for sharing your life and opening my eyes to a whole new world. It has truly been an educational and fun adventure, even if only vicariously. I was inspired to visit the great state of Alaska this past winter to ski at Alyeska, and know without a doubt that I will return to see more - inlcuding the interior and the Brooks Range. I thank you from the depths of my restless, wandering heart! Best of luck to you, wherever the wind blows you.

Paul, let me know if you hear of any effort being made to help Lance financially. This story is heart breaking.

Paul,
just recovering from my day at the start yesteday.... was able to adjust my spring break to participate... great fun! was able to chat to a couple of the guys, and saw Seavy, Mackey, DeeDee, etc. And best of all, the race was lead by Bethel's own Jessica
Klejka, winner of this year's Jr. Iditarod (beating your Fairbanks fella by 2 seconds, smile)... chatted with her and her dad Joe (a Poker buddy) before they took off. A chilly, windy morning, but great fun and an awesome experience. If i wasn't so tired right now, we'd drive over to Willow and catch the middle of the pack taking off. Gee-Haw!

I've read and re-read Mackey's story before and again today. Don't you think it should be told on all levels--to young children Alyssa's age, at the different levels of elementary school age kids, pre-teens etc.? I think you could do it!

Here in Pennsylvania we are battling 66 degrees today. If the sun were out, it would be downright hot. Folks are breaking out their flipflps and cutoffs.

Paul,
thought of you this last weekend as Bethel hosted the K-300
and I got a chance to help out and meet a lot of the mushers....
Big fun! Check our blog for more, and search YouTube for
Bogus Creek 150 to see a goofy video of the start.
Cheers,
JWL
